Somber Sundays: Death and Rebirth

the muses of men

Somber Sunday,

The month of September has come to an end, and the start of October is today. I’ve been in the mood of Death and Rebirth for quite some time, both in the literal and figurative sense.

Two lives were lost, and two friends have moved on.

I went to the funeral of my grand-uncle this week, as well as, my grandaunt also died this week.

I’m no longer working with one of my closest friends, and my mother is also no longer working with her closest friend, whom she worked with for 10 years. Both of us have lost a close friend in labor.

The universe really has a way of presenting doubles.

🧐 Thought(s) of the Week

The game of life is in a constant ebb and flow. Death is a precurosr to life, and life is a precusor to death. Energy is never destroyed it is only transferred.

Become comfortable with potential for change. Embrace it.

❤️ Weekly Highlights

1 - Make Time! - I recently got a hold of a book called “Make Time - How to Focus on What Matters Every Day” by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky. This book has greatly shifted my mental model of productivity, and I’m only a quarter of the way through. One big concept for the book, is the idea of “Daily Highlights”, what was the highlight of your day?

Productivity to me was all about finishing everything on my to-do list, I was never satisfied at the end of the day. Now I’m embodying the idea of completing one single fulfilling task every day — that doesn’t mean you disregard all other tasks. But what can be done today to push the needle forward — what is your day’s highlight?

2 - Completed the 5th 5k of the year - I’ve completed yet another 5k, and in record time. Moving from 26 minutes and 38 seconds, cutting my time to 26 minutes and 32 seconds. The next 5k is going to be October 22nd, 2023. All I can say is that I’m in prime shape, and can definitely get to sub-26 minutes.

3 - Tweetstorm Madness - Content creation has become quite a fulfilling endeavor, with the creation of this newsletter, I’ve felt the need to start doing tweetstorms as well. Not only has it helped me flesh out my ideas, it has made me a better communicator. The goal isn’t to seek approval, but to have a digital footprint and see who I resonate with.
