New Year, Better Me....

the muses of men

Happy Sunday (from in the future),

I’m writing this from Friday, a bit earlier than I usually write these.

Let’s cut to the chase though, I haven’t posted in a minute, but with good reason. I’ve been on hiatus just feeling life, observing it, and living it. For the entire month of December excluding the first week — prepping for my black belt exam — I was existing, day by day.

Sometimes going on hiatus and allowing the universe to feed you new energy from spontaneity is great. I spent the month hanging with friends and family, not focused on being my greatest self; rather I focused on being present.

This newsletter will be focused on highlighting the year rather than the week.

A lot happened to me, and I’m sure a lot happened to you all.

🧐 Thought(s) of the Year

Double down on what worked in 2023. 🔥🔥

The path has only become clearer. The light is getting brighter.

I’ve only amounted to mininal fractions!

❤️ Yearly Highlights

1 - Black Belt 🥋

It only took me 12 years to achieve. It means so much to me that I went back into Taekwon-Do and achieved such a major milestone. It’s going to be life lifelong journey. It will only now take 46 years to become a Grand Master 🥴.

2 - Completed 8 5ks

I don’t even know how I got to doing this. I just started running.

I got up on the morning of my birthday, restless, and just felt the inclination to run, maybe trying to run from the idea of getting older. 🤷🏽‍♂️

3 - Travelled to Florida Twice This year

First I went up for a Hackathon through work, which was eye-opening, to say the least. I loved being in Miami and South Beach, it felt like a first-world Kingston Jamaica. I want to go back, and I want to make the best of the opportunity next time again.

The second time, I went to Orlando, this time to get my face kicked in. I went to compete in the ISAKA US Open. I wasn’t going expecting to win anything, but went to have an experience and see what was possible. I would gladly go again and try my best to do better going into it.

4 - Started my Content Creator/Writer Journey

Over the past 2 to 3 years I’ve learned a lot and experienced a lot, to safely say I can impart a wealth of knowledge and use that as leverage to amass an audience. The main goal isn’t to become famous but to impart value to the world such that I can receive value in the future.

I feel it provides value, I think I’m slowly switching from being a consumer to a producer.

The goal is to amass 10k twitter followers and 5k Instagram followers, this will require some very intentional and consistent work to achieve.

5 - Blue Mountain Hike 🏔️

Completed the Blue Mountain hike for the 5th time. This time I went “shirtless and in shorts”. It wasn’t that cold when I first did it. This wasn’t as mentally taxing as the other treks, but it was still fun to hike with a lot of people I hadn’t seen in a while.

It’s always great to see people’s mental break and to see them struggle and build themselves up to finish it all.

6 - Ended with a good Work Performance so….

I should be getting promoted in January.

📚Interesting Content

1 - Learn how to fold socks

Recently got a new set of sporting socks from Amazon, and realized that I didn’t really know how to fold socks. I usually just do some weird shit or throw them in my drawer.

🔖 Word(s) of the Week

oxymoron - using two contradictory terms in conjunction.
