The Divine Essays: My Observations on God 👼🪐

The MUSES of Men

Thoughtful Thursdays,

I’ve been thinking about how all my previous posts try to depict a lesson to be learned, but this newsletter is amorphous, just a collection of thoughts. Granted, lessons can always be learned from an observation, just a matter of connecting the dots.

Today isn’t about a lesson but a collection of observations — that’ll try to connect. I’m even having trouble remembering the entirety because these are all my bathroom shower thoughts, my mind can keep so many ideas.

Thoughts of The Day

Ideas are floating and will come back.

I’ve realized that, many of the ideas I once had, keep floating around. Things I was highly opposed to in the past, but I’ve become more receptive to.

A List of things I never thought I would come around to:

1. I never thought I would be a Drake fan,

2. I never thought I could ever be friends with a woman again truly — a story for another time.

3. I never thought I would like the whites of eggs — I eat 12 eggs a day presently.

4. I thought I would always be a heathen, but God has become a topic of interest recently.

My Concept of God

I’m on a journey of finding God, but it’s sort of a peculiar turn of events. I was a devout athesist during my high school days — my rebellious pubescent days.

A very interesting observation I’ve made is that many of my closets friends and asscoiates believe and worship a God — the traditional concept of God. It seems like the universe is communcating an interesting message.

I’m not sure if I’m turning to God because of the biases of having so many religious counterparts, or because the opposing side of the spectrum have become degenerate.

God is not a man…Maybe

I read a very interesting book on the occult — The Kybalion — which I beleive to be a precursor to religion. It formulates an idea about the concept of God, that is less humanoid — a man in the sky (or woman).

God was described more of as a force, a singular entity where we are sublevels of God. God being more a description of the whole, we are sectors of this whole.

This shifted my general perview of who or what God truly is. Maybe my concept of God being humanoied being was the wrong mindframe. Maybe God, is something else.

Interesting this book recommendations came from a friend of mine — Mr. Green — that is on the path to Islam.

Story of the Day

I have a neighbor I take to the gym quite often. It’s a normal ritual every morning, for me to determine what to listen to as we journey to the gym.

Recently, I’ve been listening to playlist for the band System of the Down, the first song on the playlist is called Chop Suey!. To also preface she is a devout Christian herself, this is where I’ve become keen to observe behaviour that many may not take note of, or maybe I’m reading quite deeper than I need to.

On the second day of playing this particular song, I noticed she decide to put in her headphones, I assume because a specific lyric from the song, because this was an uncommon thing for her to do.

The line in the song goes ‘I cry when angels deserve to die’, on the surface level this may seem blasphemous if heard in passing, but really placed in context it gives the entire picture of the song.

Just an interesting story about how without context, anything can be taken out of context.

The lyric explained in detail from the song - Chop Suey! By System of the Down.

Song of The Day

Interestingly the bridge of this song at minute 2:19 was an excerpt from the bible, that was randomly picked, during the writing phases of the song.

Here is a breakdown of how it happened.

Here is a break down of the actual bridge in question.

The Universe, God, or whatever you want to call it, feels like it has a strong force or voice that drops hints and allows for serendipity.

Concluding Words

This was a bit of a long post, but a post built from many weeks of observations. It’s very interesting how once you allow the universe to guide you, you can see many connections in your life.

These thoughts in particular at the time seemed quite unobvious, but as I dug I saw a pattern of thought.
