The complexity in perceived degeneracy...

The MUSES of Men

Welcome to Monday,

Leaving behind Sunday isn’t always the greatest of feelings. Sunday is typically seen as a day of purity; most tend to have quiet Sundays, whether to align themselves for work on Monday or to worship their God. We typically don’t think of degenerate acts on Sunday, but I did.

Thought(s) of the Day

Metal music/hardcore rock, you would assume these are normal rednecks that are just angry, but the ability to compose complex guitar riffs is not an easy task. Slipknot seems to be a bunch of degenerates from IOWA; however, they’ve created metal symphonies since inception that are layered with unique musical instruments — metal kegs, baseball bats, etc.

The same can be said for hip-hop. Rappers like Young Thug or Lil Wayne may seem degenerate but have created whole new genres and sonics that are so complex.

Something may be seemingly degenerate, but if we take the time to understand what may seem like anomalies to us, we’ll see a deeper complexity that we would’ve disregarded.

Quote of the Day

How you respond to anomalies is a good indicator of your open-mindedness. Anomalies are like a glitch in the matrix. You can identify these moments when you find something surprising, missing, or strange. Anomalies indicate the world doesn’t work the way you thought it did. These moments can be worth their weight in gold if you pay attention. Closed-minded people tend to ignore or gloss over anomalies. Open-minded people want to dive in and understand. Of course, diving in is hard as it may require you to discard your ideas and beliefs.
